Preparing for an analytics assessment

What to gather before a connected analytics review so the first week produces decisions instead of scavenger hunts.

Assessments move faster when access and journey samples are ready on day one. Grant read-only access to analytics admins, share current event dictionaries, and nominate one contact per application surface.

Pick three real journeys that matter this quarter — not every possible path. Walk through each journey yourself and note where you expect an event. Surprises during that dry run often become early findings.

If privacy reviews restrict raw user identifiers, provide hashed or synthetic examples that still show how IDs link across services. Connected application analytics depends on those links.

Finally, agree what "done" means: a measurement map, a ranked fix list, or a design for new instrumentation. Clear outcomes keep the engagement focused.
